Worship
People
frequently ask what worship services at Redeemer Church look like. This is a good question,
since many people would think that the worship styles of a Presbyterian
church and of a traditional African-American church would clash.
It is our intention, however, that as we blend the cultures of our city that
we also blend the worship styles of its people. While
holding to a worship that is guided by the scriptures and
focused on the nature and the works of God in Christ, we strive each
week to develop
an authentic worship style that will both honor God and express the
hearts of the community of believers represented in our church.
This is Redeemer's offering of praise and worship that is designed
to allow those who visit to be drawn into the presence of the living God
and not be distracted by one set of specific cultural distinctives.
In all our worship services, the expository preaching of the Word of God
is held in a prominent place. Along with the preaching of the
Word, we recite our historic creeds and confessions,
expressing everyone's need for a Savior and a right relationship with
God that can only be found through trusting in the finished work of
Jesus Christ. It is our desire that everyone who attends our
services is able to say, "Today, I have been in the presence of God." We invite you to come and worship with us
this
Sunday. We are confident that you will find many familiar
components in the service, preaching that is both practical and
challenging for your daily life, and fellow believers who will offer you
a warm welcome.
